Why Does My GPS Location Jump Around?
Why Does My GPS Location Jump Around?

Every phone has different GPS performance, and factors like indoor environments, tall buildings, or poor satellite reception can cause inaccurate location tracking. If your GPS location seems to jump around, it may be due to weak GPS signals in your area.

How to Improve GPS Accuracy

To help users adjust their GPS accuracy based on their needs, the Meter app provides a tool that allows you to fine-tune your GPS accuracy radius. Here’s how you can adjust it:

  1. Start a Meter : Begin using the taxi meter as you normally would.

  2. Open the GPS Accuracy Settings: While the meter is running, look for the GPS Accuracy Radius button in the bottom sheet.

  3. Adjust the Radius:

    • If you want a more accurate GPS reading, set a smaller radius. This means the app will only accept highly precise location updates.

    • If your GPS frequently loses signal, a larger radius might help maintain smoother tracking.

  4. Test and Adjust: Try different radius settings to find the balance that works best for your location and device.

Additional Tips for Better GPS Performance

  • Stay Outdoors When Possible: GPS works best in open areas with a clear view of the sky.

  • Enable High Accuracy Mode: On Android, you can go to Settings > Location > Mode and select High Accuracy.

  • Keep Your Device Updated: Ensure that your phone's operating system and the Meter app are updated to the latest versions.

  • Restart Your GPS: If your GPS seems stuck or inaccurate, turning airplane mode on and off or restarting your phone can help reset the GPS signal.
