Troubleshooting "Couldn't Complete Your Purchase" on Android

If you're seeing the error message "Couldn't complete your purchase" while trying to subscribe on Android, it may be related to a mismatch between your current geographical location and the country set in your Google Play account.

Why does this happen?

To successfully complete a purchase, your current geographic location must match the country set in your Google Play Store account. If these are different, Google may block the purchase.

How to Fix It:

If you need to change the country in your Google Play account, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Play Store App
On your Android device, open the Google Play Store app.

  2. Access Your Profile Settings
At the top right, tap the profile icon.

  3. Navigate to Country and Profiles
    Tap:

    • Settings

    • General

    • Account and device preferences

    • Country and profiles

  4. Select the Correct Country
Tap the country you want to use for your account.

  5. Add a Payment Method
Follow the on-screen instructions to add a payment method for the selected country.

Note: You can only change your Play country once per year. If you change it, you won’t be able to switch it back for 12 months.

For more detailed instructions, visit Google’s help article: Change your Google Play country.

If you've verified your country settings and the issue persists, ensure your payment method matches the selected country or contact Google Play support for further assistance.

Can’t sign up because email/phone is already linked after deleting the app

If you deleted the app but see “email already has an account” or “phone number already linked,” uninstalling does not remove your account from our system. Try logging in with the existing email/phone. If you no longer have access or need the identifiers unlinked, contact support via chat/email and include the email/phone used so we can help.

Add escalation process for critical startup crashes

If the Meter App does not open at all on Android (startup crash), collect device model, Android version, app version, and whether reinstall/update was already attempted. If still failing, escalate to Android engineering immediately with crash severity and account ID.
