Bookings In Meter App

Overview

The Meter App booking system enables drivers, dispatchers, and riders to request a trip on-demand or reserve in advance, similar to ride-hailing platforms. This feature is currently available for Meter Fleet customers only.

Booking Setup

Booking Options & Pricing

Fleet operators configure Booking Options to define ride types offered. Each option controls:

  • Name & Description — Labels riders see when selecting rides (e.g., Standard, XL, Luxury)

  • Vehicle Requirements — Eligibility criteria such as seat capacity or vehicle class

  • Pricing Rules — Base fare, per-mile rates, per-minute rates, minimum fares, and cancellation fees

  • Driver Eligibility — Which drivers can receive specific trip types

Example booking options include Standard, XL, Premium, and Flat Rate/Contract rides for different service levels.

Important limitation: Booking options apply across all zones with no zone-specific disabling capability.

Booking Availability Configuration

Fleet operators configure operational hours and days at the booking settings dashboard to control when the fleet accepts bookings.

Auto Dispatch

Auto dispatch operates by default, with the system selecting the most eligible drivers based on online status and distance, and attempting to dispatch trips sequentially by eligibility ranking.

Zone Pricing

Advanced operators can use zone-based pricing rules to override standard booking option pricing across different operating areas.

How to Take Bookings

Four methods exist for creating bookings:

  1. Personalized Fleet Website — Riders book directly through the fleet's unique website

  2. Rider App — Riders access the fleet within a competitive marketplace

  3. Admin Web Console — Fleet members create bookings on riders' behalf

  4. Meter App — Staff use the Bookings tab to create customer bookings

Payments

Default Payment Flow

When Meter Pay is enabled, payment will be collected from the rider before the booking is sent to the fleet using card pre-authorization. Funds are captured upon trip completion and distributed to driver and fleet owner Meter Pay accounts.

Booking In Advance

Riders can book up to 90 days in advance with pre-authorization attempted at booking time.

Cancellation Policies

  • Rider Cancellation: Only the cancellation fee is captured; remaining funds return to the rider's card

  • Driver Cancellation: The prepaid amount is refunded 100% to the rider

Disabling Pre-Payment

Operators can disable mandatory pre-payment in booking settings or allow individual booking exemptions.
