Steps to Send an Invoice Before the Ride

1. Estimate the Trip Cost

Before sending an invoice, you need to estimate the fare based on the rider’s origin and destination:

  1. Open the Meter app.

  2. Go to the Rides tab.

  3. Tap Estimate Trip.

  4. Enter the Pickup Location and Destination.

  5. Save the trip.

2. Create and Share a Payment Link

Once the trip is saved, follow these steps:

  1. Tap Create Payment Link.

  2. Review the estimated fare details.

  3. Share the generated payment link with your rider via text, email, or any messaging app.

3. Rider Completes Payment

Your rider can click on the link and securely complete the payment before the ride starts. Once payment is confirmed, you can proceed with the trip.

Benefits of Upfront Payments

  • Ensures payment security – Avoids disputes over fare after the trip.

  • Convenient for riders – Riders can pay in advance without handling cash or cards during the ride.

  • Saves time – Streamlines the transaction process for both the driver and rider.

Need a trip receipt when the rider does not have a Meter account?

You can still send a receipt by email after the trip.

  1. Open the completed trip in the app.

  2. Go to the payment/receipt screen.

  3. Enter the rider’s email address and tap Send.

This sends the trip receipt directly to the email address provided.
